About Us
EvanSTEM
EvanSTEM is a public-private partnership project housed within District 65 with the goal of creating an Evanston ecosystem of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educators, program providers, industry leaders and professionals to increase underrepresented student success in STEM programs, courses, and ultimately careers.
The Cardboard Carnival Staff
The Cardboard Carnival is supported by staff from the Evanston Public Library, Digital Divas, Family Focus, and MetaMedia. Meet the staff both behind and in front of the webcams that made this challenge this possible. Please contact us with any questions you have about the challenge.

Courtney R. T.
Teen Library Assistant
In my work with EPL, I teach maker programs for female identifying youth, like Cycling Club, Sewing and DIY Club as well as a variety of other programs. What I really enjoy about STEM is the intersection of science and art and the natural world. STEM helps me process, understand and interact with the beauty of art and nature. One reason I love cycling and teaching cycling is that it is an energizing blend of physical activity and science all using a simple tool for exploration and freedom–the bike!

Daniella P.
STEAMbassador
I live on the south end of Evanston. I graduated from Evanston township high school in 2019. I first became interested in STEAM my junior year when my teacher Ms. Klyn told me about STEAM Innovation and Design Thinking which I decided to take for senior year. I’m excited to be working with the kids, and excited for them to learn and be part of this experience. A fact about me is my favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s The Tonight Dough and one of my hobbies is photography!

Elacsha M.
Teen Engagement Coordinator
I have always had a passion for science since I was a kid (kind of like Ada Twist the Scientist and Iggy Peck the Architect). I love conducting experiments and inventing things. I enjoy working with my hands, problem solving and not knowing what the outcome will be! Science will always be cool.

Kelly G.
Mentor, Digital Divas
am a junior at Northwestern where I major in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. I’ve been a mentor for Digital Youth Divas for two years and have loved getting to know the girls! My favorite activity has been making light-up holiday ornaments. In my free time, I like to hang out with friends, listen to music, and see live theatre. I have experience leading Project Exploration (nature), circuitry, sewing, and glass etching activities.

Mike Z.
Program Administrator, MetaMedia
Mike works at Meta Media – an afterschool STEM hangout space for Middle Schoolers. Right now, he’s pretty big into building things out of wood and trying to figure out new uses for old things. His favorite food is sandwiches.

Sam C.
Youth Leader, MetaMedia
Sam C. is MetaMedia’s Youth Leader. Sam is a veteran mentor to students in all things audio-visual.

Tyler W.
Young Adult Librarian
You can find Tyler in the Loft at the Evanston Public Library where he plans Anime Club, suggests amazing fantasy books to read, and programs robots. When he isn’t at the library, you will most likely find him eating pizza, figuring out how to program, or watching whatever TV show he is obsessed with.
